Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt. bought the Szakoly biomass power plant in 2016. The power plant, handed over in 2009, is Hungary's first biomass-fired power generation facility established with green field investment. The power plant, which provides jobs for 55 people, produces electricity purely by burning biomass - wood chips and sawmill by-products.
140 000 tons
of wood chips burned annually
130-140 GWh
electricity production annually
20,7 MWh

Relying on the economic and technical background of the Veolia company group, the facility supports Hungary's energy goals in the long term.
