In 2015, Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt. took over the power plant block in Nyíregyháza that serves as the basis for local district heat production. The Nyíregyháza power plant supplies a total of 15,647 residential and more than 1,000 other customers with thermal energy. The total thermal energy output of the Nyíregyháza equipment is 290 MWth, and the electrical energy output is 58 MWe.
In Nyíregyháza, in addition to residential remote consumers, we must also highlight the large industrial customer group. Within the framework of a long-term contract, Veolia supplies food and automotive companies with steam-thermal energy.
By taking over the power plant, the company's goal was to provide local residents with cheap and environmentally friendly thermal energy, operating and developing a system that offers a long-term sustainable energy model for the settlement.
