Veolia will provide district heating services for Mátészalka for 25 years

Veolia has won the public procurement tender for the operation of Mátészalka’s district heat production and supply system. The 25-year concession agreement guarantees the long-term stability of the city’s energy supply and the continuous modernization of the service.

According to the terms of the contract, the company will establish a 100% own concession company within 60 days of signing, which will be responsible for all local district heat production and service tasks.

The annually delivered 55,325 GJ of heat ensures reliable heating and hot water supply for numerous residential buildings and public institutions. The Mátészalka district heating system serves an extensive range of consumers:

  • 1,775 residential users,

  • 15 separately managed institutions, and

  • 3 other users.

Veolia is committed to supporting the city’s sustainability efforts as Mátészalka’s strategic partner for the next 25 years. In addition to safe operation, we pay special attention to increasing efficiency and reducing our ecological footprint, which is a shared interest with consumers and the municipality alike.

The concession contract was signed on March 20, 2026, and the service is expected to begin on July 1, 2026.
