Safety and Health Above All

For Veolia Hungary, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is not just one day, but an everyday mission.
Munkahelyi biztonság és egészségvédelem világnapja

Since 2003, April 28 has been designated as the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This is when the International Labour Organisation adopted its global strategy on workplace safety and health.

Every year, the institution launches an international campaign to raise widespread awareness about the importance of workplace safety and health, and to reinforce the right of workers to a safe and healthy working environment.

From the very beginning of its decades-long activity, Veolia Hungary has been working to ensure its employees can carry out their daily tasks safely. This is a teamwork in which everyone has individual and collective tasks and responsibilities. Accident prevention trainings and measures are regularly held at the company:

  • Regular occupational safety and fire protection trainings,

  • Creation and training on 12 lifesaving rules,

  • Investigation and analysis of occupational safety incidents,

  • Safety Week, held every September. Within this framework, the elements of Veolia’s accident prevention strategy are introduced to employees through safety programs at the group’s entities. Each year, the event has a central theme. Last year, it was "Stop, Think, Then Act!"

It is important for our company that our employees and external partners understand that injuries can only be avoided through continuous attention. Anyone can have a good or bad day, but during work, one must not only pay attention to performing tasks professionally, but also ensure accidents do not happen.

Our leaders regularly conduct safety inspections to encourage our employees to comply with occupational and fire safety regulations for their own and their colleagues’ safety. Prevention of accidents is a highlighted goal in our company, which also includes the early identification of events involving high risks. We continuously encourage our employees to share any dangerous situations, actions, or near-misses they identify by filling out a form.

We believe that through our trainings and inspections, we can ensure every colleague goes home to their family as healthy as they arrived at work. Always Safe! Let’s always stay safe!
