March 6th is World Energy Efficiency Day, aimed at drawing attention to optimizing energy use. By being conscious, not only can we reduce the burden on our environment but can also lower our costs.
Veolia is committed to sustainable and efficient energy use. We believe that, through small steps, everyone can contribute to change – both at home and in the workplace.
With just a few simple steps, we can achieve significant results in reducing our energy consumption.
For example, it is worth replacing traditional light bulbs with LED or energy-saving versions, which can use up to 80% less energy and have a much longer lifespan. It is equally important not to leave electronic devices in standby mode when not in use: with a power strip, several devices can be easily turned off at once, avoiding unnecessary consumption.
Optimizing heating and cooling systems also plays a key role, since these account for a significant portion of energy use. With a smart thermostat, the temperature of a property can be precisely regulated, thus avoiding excessive heating or cooling. When purchasing new household appliances, always pay attention to energy efficiency ratings: modern, highly rated devices can provide significant long-term savings.
Proper insulation should not be forgotten either, as a well-insulated home keeps the heat in during winter and the heat out during summer. Regularly checking the condition of windows and doors and replacing them if necessary can also contribute to lower energy consumption. Finally, although less obvious, water usage also impacts energy consumption, since producing hot water is an energy-intensive process. Using water-saving taps and taking shorter showers can reduce consumption in this area as well.
Energy efficiency is not just a technological issue but also a mindset. At Veolia, we work to help our partners and communities move toward a more efficient future with innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
