This year, Veolia Hungary announced its Volunteer Grant for the first time as part of the Veolia Cares program, which supports employees’ community engagement and strengthens team spirit. The goal of the program is for colleagues to contribute to the environment and society through their own ideas and community initiatives, supported by the company with financial resources and time. The Veolia Cares program gives each employee the opportunity to take one paid working day a year to engage in volunteer activities of their choice.
As part of the Volunteer Grant, employee teams could apply for a fund of maximum HUF 150.000 in three categories: environmental protection, social responsibility, and pro bono services. Three teams received awards: two teams from Ajka worked on making their environment greener by planting trees in the town, while the third team in Budaörs helped improve the courtyard of a local school by upgrading a composter and installing a bird drink station.
A shared characteristic of the initiatives is that they created lasting value and set an example of responsible thinking, cooperation, and commitment.
One of the most important task of the Veolia Cares program is to encourage employees to take active steps for their community and environment, reinforcing the mindset that we can contribute to a more livable and supportive future at individual level as well.
