Százhalombatta Boiler Station

Százhalombatta boiler station was purchased by Veolia Energy Hungary in 2015. The facility with a nominal capacity of 25.2 MW, provides heat for a total of 4,200 homes in the city on the bank of the Danube. Currently supplying the locals with heat energy takes the capacity of 21 MW out of the total 25.2 MW. The remaining capacity provides the opportunity to supply additional consumers, primarily industrial ones.

In terms of sustainable energy management, heat and domestic hot water are provided using biomass - primarily agricultural by-products - in Tata.
In the framework of the project named "District heating system upgrade in Tata", launched in 2014, the heating and hot water supply for hundreds of thousands of apartments has become more economical and environmentally friendly. The investment came from EU funds of approximately HUF 60 million in the frame of the Environment and Energy Operational Program. By replacing obsolete pipes and heat centres with modern devices and by expanding biomass boiler capacities, the heat and hot water supply for the affected buildings has become not only more reliable, but also more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable.
