The Randstad awards recognizing the most popular employers based on one of the world’s largest, independent employer brand surveys organized in 31 countries have been announced. According to the Hungarian employees surveyed Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt. proved to be the most attractive workplace in the energy and utility services sector.

The survey, which was carried out in Hungary among people aged between 18 to 64, collected the views of 7,800 persons. The respondents evaluated the companies based on 10 practical criteria, while the analysis of the survey provided insight into the different aspects of job selection and motivation by potential employees. The survey carried out in Hungary has revealed that an attractive salary and benefit package is the primary factor of attraction for job seekers, 73% of the respondents indicating them as the most important evaluation criterion. Furthermore, employees in Hungary also consider a pleasant work atmosphere (68%) or the company’s financial stability (62%) as a determining factor when choosing a company, but long-term security (60%) and balance between work and private life (58%) are also important considerations. The possibility of personal carrier building is also a strong expectation, and two-thirds of the respondents would welcome opportunities for professional training.

Veolia Hungary considers professional support for employees and career starters very important; the company has held a number of career orientation trainings and presentations in recent years. The latest such programme was organised in the framework of Veolia’s ’Yes WEDO’ programme when secondary school students were introduced to the operation of the company, highlighting its activities towards maintaining sustainability, the environment, and biodiversity. The importance of achieving and implementing gender diversity and professional equality was also a topic of these presentations.

In 2021, the company launched its succession program, the Veolia Academy, which offers both job opportunities and training for those starting their careers or those planning to change careers. The program provides competitive knowledge in several fields and prepares the future colleagues for the challenges of a given profession. The participants in the program are offered a job contract already during the training period. The training is held on different sites of Veolia, in Pécs, Budapest. Ajka and Debrecen.
