Veolia Hungary’s “Talent Deserves a Chance” Initiative Wins Prestigious CSR Award

Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt.'s “Talent Deserves a Chance” program received a prestigious recognition at the 2024 CSR Hungary Awards, winning in the "Best CSR Program – Shared Issues, Shared Responsibility" category.

The initiative aims to support the artistic talents of children in state care while fostering their self-awareness and personal development. This accolade grants the company the right to use the CSR Hungary trademark for two years.

The awards ceremony took place on November 15th at the Gundel Restaurant, where Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt. was among the honourees. Since 2007, the CSR Hungary Awards have recognized corporate social responsibility projects that represent genuine values and causes, setting an example for current and future decision-makers and promoting professional knowledge-sharing across the business sector. Veolia's “Talent Deserves a Chance” program was recognized in the “Best CSR Program – Shared Issues, Shared Responsibility” category, which evaluates initiatives supporting local communities. Alongside the recognition, Veolia received the right to display the CSR Hungary – Best CSR Program trademark alongside its project for the next two years.

Commenting on the award, Ágnes Oláh, Head of Marketing of Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt., emphasized the company’s commitment to the “Talent Deserves a Chance” initiative. She noted that the program, now in its second season, has once again demonstrated the transformative power of art in children’s lives. Looking ahead, the company aims to continue supporting young people in state care while instilling sustainability values that play a crucial role in building their future. The program aspires not only to change the lives of young participants but also to promote a broader adoption of environmentally conscious thinking.

Veolia’s core purpose is ecological transformation, aligning human development with environmental protection. To achieve this, the company places significant emphasis on corporate social responsibility, contributing to a sustainable world where environmental awareness and action are fundamental values. CSR programs like “Talent Deserves a Chance” reflect this commitment to sustainability, equality, and support for the arts.

Launched in 2021, the “Talent Deserves a Chance” program focuses on the development of children in state care through art therapy, providing them with opportunities to work towards their goals. During the second season in 2023-2024, over 20 children collaborated with contemporary artists and the Bolyai Children's Home to explore and develop their talents through art.

This year, in addition to painting, participants had the chance to experiment with sculpture and photography, allowing them to express themselves in the medium they found most comfortable and inspiring. Beyond nurturing their talents and supporting their personal growth, the program also aimed to contribute to their future. As in previous years, a charity auction was held, where their artworks were sold to raise funds. The closing auction raised over 2 million forints, which was deposited into the children’s personal or guardian accounts to support their future aspirations.
