Veolia Participates in the Ajka Equal Opportunity Day Again

For the 11th consecutive year, Ajka hosted its Equal Opportunity Day, an event supported by Bakonyi Erőmű Zrt.

Organized by the Molnár Gábor Műhely Alapítvány, the event on September 20th offered vibrant and meaningful programs, enabling participants to learn, play, and have fun alongside individuals with disabilities. The event emphasized equality and breaking down prejudices, fostering an inclusive environment for all attendees.

Held at the Ajka Agora, the day brought together locals and visitors to share experiences with people living with disabilities and altered work capabilities through games, performances, and interactive activities. Veolia Hungary returned this year with one of its most beloved features: storytelling. Partnering with the Meseszó Egyesület, storytellers entertained younger participants with colourful, engaging tales, often joined by older guests relaxing on beanbags. Many of the stories emphasized the importance of nature and environmental protection, seamlessly aligning with Veolia’s sustainability goals.

Beyond storytelling, Veolia Hungary’ss team engaged attendees in discussions and activities around environmental protection, ecological transformation, and sustainability, fostering awareness through fun and interactive sessions.

The event’s opening ceremony included a speech by Attila Vollár, Regional Director for Central Hungary and Managing Director of Bakonyi Erőmű Zrt. He highlighted the importance of equality and Veolia’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt. places great importance on supporting social responsibility and equal opportunities. For us, these are not just principles but core values guiding every decision we make. We work to create opportunities where everyone can thrive based on their talents and dedication, contributing to our shared success. Transformation – whether social or ecological – is achieved through small, collective steps,” - Vollár emphasized.

He added, “Through programs like this, we learn from each other and deepen our understanding of each other’s challenges. These initiatives teach us the importance of acceptance, patience, and collaboration, which are vital for building a more inclusive future.”

Lovas Irén, the head of the Molnár Gábor Műhely Alapítvány, also highlighted the foundation's ongoing efforts to improve the lives of young people and adults with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities.

“While perfection is not our goal, we aim to create a space where participants can feel at ease, enjoy themselves, and leave with new experiences. Bringing together individuals with disabilities and their peers provides fresh perspectives and encourages bravery in these interactions. We’re also proud of our joint greenhouse project with the power plant, where participants actively contribute while learning about sustainability. We look forward to continuing this work and creating more opportunities for those in need,”- Lovas explained.

Veolia Hungary, Bakonyi Erőmű Zrt., and the Foundation are committed to fostering equal opportunities for people with altered work capabilities. Events like Equal Opportunity Day serve as a platform to spread this vital message and create lasting impacts for all involved.
